Kentfield CA is a conveniently located suburban community on the flanks of Mt. Tamalpais and the flats below in the Ross Valley of Central Marin County. The weather is moderate and sunny, nearby schools are highly rated, both public and private, and commutes are easy to San Francisco and the East Bay including a ferry commute to San Francisco from the Larkspur Ferry terminal. The College of Marin, some boutique shopping, a few well reviewed restaurants and the well regarded Woodlands market provide the commercial center for Kentfield, but the community is mostly known for high end homes with good privacy. Neighborhoods in Kentfield vary from hillside locations with views to homes in the flats in more typically subdivided neighborhoods. The earliest developed area in Kentfield is called Murray Park, a wooded area with good privacy located just below King Mountain adjoining Larkspur. Housing wise, Kentfield is mostly known for the Kent Woodlands, an area of larger, quality homes on larger lots with good privacy, indoor-outdoor grounds for entertainment, many are gated and the area has good access to open space trails and fire roads in the Marin Municipal watershed and Mt Tamalpais State Park.
